The woods outside the backroom
shiver their way across lawn's edge
leaves lapping at the space
not hindering movement over years
of growth. The old house not forgotten
but left to see age creep and foliage
return an old farm to ages before.
The sky continues to shine brightly and sun's
usual advance almost like an expensive
watch, time just right as it always was.
This pair of eyes absorbs the view
scents the smell of pine, as a loon's cry
surrounds me with its meditating sound.
Soaring and richocheting from each windy
caress, a lullaby of sound this night.
When the stars perform their bright
dazzle in the twilight I can read
my fortune in the darkening sky.
