Oh For Calm!

Circling at whirlwind speed
Lighting fast
My calm to blast
Crowded thoughts
Rage, rage in my head

I lay me down to rest
Physical functions
Heed my request
But why does a storm
Rage, rage in my head?

Countless sheep
Come and go
Yet still no sleep
Thoughts, relentless and endless
Rage, rage inside my head

Like the howling wind
Searching for a place to rest
Constant thoughts careening
Craving mental balm
Oh, give me calm!

Well described and will strike a chord with most I think. especially in times of special turmoil,

There are many wise suggested ways to slow down thoughts, but at times it can be elusive, and not easy to stop and  'cast all your anxiety on Him', and not take it up again. Sometimes it can seem worrying about the sleeplessness rather than waiting quietly! Rhiannon
