When I was a car

When I was a car, children sat in on my seats
Laughed, cried, dropped conkers and sweet wrappers
Lost scarves
Small ones threw up over me on long journeys
Or slept
I guzzled petrol, farted carbon dioxide and other noxious fumes
Gave sanctuary to cold walkers and workers
Travelled roads at early hours before traffic
For hospital visits, shopping, holidays.
Hospice.
Swore loudly discovering my mot day on an RIP day.
My owner wishing she could mechanically alter me to a water or static fed motion.
It’s amazing what you can fill me with. What you can find in me. I am warmer than a cart ever was, but clearly not as earth kind or snorty as a horse.
Becoming spare parts for other ventures as I see it in the future, at one with peace.
