I sought refuge in
a special spot long forgotten
where a doe and her young one
caroused in a section
of clear-cutting in Nova
Scotian woods
and I enjoyed watching the
affection between mother & child.
Now I sit and contemplate
my surroundings as bushy bunches
hunch up in
scattered disarray
among new cuttings
providing a picturesque view
similar to images seen
long years ago-
I wonder if they remember me
as I do them?
