Afterglow

Twigs stretching high
to scratch the sky,
sun’s remaining red hue
across the deepening evening blue,
a crescent moon,
a single star – or probably a planet –
how high, how far,
and here how still ,
so far below
in winter’s chill,
we’re warmed by the cheering glow.

I am always awestruck how you
I am always awestruck how you manage to put huge thoughts and feelings in so simple and pure a way. How much high faluting writing there is about space and this
how high, how far,
and here how still ,
so far below
has more power, more wonder in 7 words! It is gorgeous. All centering round the two 'l's in still, made me think of the uprightness of a human, the finiteness of the syllable in all the long vowels, like distance stretching as far as one can see

The mystery, wonder and awe
The mystery, wonder and awe of a new moon is in this beautiful poem, holding Space in 11 short lines, and that's why it is Pick of the Day! Please do share and retweet if you can
