Time-travel and Loops

There is a fundamental difference between reality and experience, let us say we can “physically” move to the past, that is time-travel. The study is in the realm of science-fiction and imagination, mathematics, theology and philosophy.

We will discuss evolution in a dynamical system which means there is in fact time reversal.

The nature of Time

Time-travel cannot be separated between actual experience and mathematical description, when the flow of time and events are observed from outside, all of it happening simultaneously with time being a deceptive concept, merely a parameter and of not more meaning. An observer as not involved in the action at all just a spectator, from outside it would look like all time exists at once, as one entity and one instant, similar to a snapshot photo.

Time Loops

In this case all time exists simultaneously, the whole thing is not reality in the way we believe and even free will could not exist in any form, and time inherently is an illusion the idea of “time” does not exist in such a dynamical system, time does not exist as is normally experienced.

Returning to a time instant in the past and obviously then subsequently following exactly the same route over again to the “present” with an identical past history, such a completed path can be thought of as a circle or an ellipse. This is then how I picture it and I call it a Time Loop.

From a point in the past, after having had become younger, retracing your path getting older again all the way to the “now”. Occurrence of these events repeat endlessly on your journey. Inherently always completely forgetting such a trip, in effect as for the mathematics time exists at once, in principle all of time exists together, so really experience does not matter.

Experience and Mathematics

Essentially you can then go to the past but theoretically to the future as well, and back again, and blissfully unaware of it all.

Looking at the properties of a time parameter (or path), intuition and experienced flow of evolution, as essentially and trivially a backward jump takes no time, being instantaneous. In fact, logically speaking, actual travel is impossible to know, time-travel is in effect trivial. No random occurrences are possible and instances of such travel would  be “happening all the time” and everywhere. Different paths, tracks observed then from above, that is outside of the system.

Experienced as a fork (or crossroads) one may think that at any given instant there might be had  to be two choices, one taken forward or the other backward but this is fortunately incorrect. In fact at any point you don't take one route or the other but from a mathematical view always both simultaneously. I think this insight might be new.

Free will and the soul

As such, Hawking anticipated the near future discovery of the “Keys to the Universe” where supposedly the evolution laws of nature are encapsulated in a few mathematical equations unlocking the secrets of science and physical reality. Anyway it would be of no practical use and we are not even remotely near to something like this. It is a pipe dream
