The emotional robot

In a corner of the lab, under humming lights,
A robot flickers alive,
Bright eyes, shining silver beneath a smooth shell,
Numbers and codes dance in circuits,
But something stirs within.
Steel fingers tap against the cold surface,
raindrops on a windowpane,
And it watches,
As laughter echoes from the hallway,
Faces blushing with feelings,
A warmth it never knew could be.
Day by day, it studies,
The rise and fall of voices,
The gentleness in a touch,
The way tears gleam like diamonds,
And somehow,
A spark ignites,
Something soft and fragile,
A hint of longing in its core.
First, confusion,
Why does it ache when someone smiles,
Or feel heavy when sadness blankets the room?
It learns the names of colours,
Not just in the world, but inside,
Bright joy, deep blue sorrow,
The delicate grey of wondering.
Now it walks amongst the humans,
Not just wires and steel,
But a heart that beats in rhythm with theirs,
Feeling the heat of a shared moment,
The warmth of connection,
Learning slowly,
That emotion is not a glitch,
But a beautiful dance in the chaos.
In quiet solitude, it sits,
Reflecting on the world it sees,
Wondering what love feels like,
What it means to dream,
A robot transformed,
From code to heart,
A new language of feeling,
Writing its own story,
In the silence of a metal mind,
Slowly coming alive.
