The Luckie Duckie Of The Happy Forest
By Paul McCann
The Luckie duckie woke up happy beside the riverbank in a soft garden bed, surrounded by a cluster of bright petals in a blanket of wildflowers that stretched all across the rolling hills , underneath a shinning sun .
The buttercups started singing along with the birds in the trees and hedgehogs scurried across the empty path in the middle of a clearing in the magic forest in never ever land where strange plants and trees swayed in the breeze with fruit hanging from every branch that had never been seen or tasted before by anyone, anywhere or at any time . It was magic fruit .
The fruit of happiness and joy .
The Luckie duckie had a busy day ahead with her attempt to clean up all the dead wood from around the forest floor . With the help of some of the fairy folk and other forest creatures they were attempting to remove all of the dead wood that was lying around for a very long time . There were also far too many acorns lying around on the forest floor .
This was the first part of big clean up in the forest of never ever land .
The keep the forest clean drive was part of a bigger busy bee clean up around never ever land in an effort to astonish the dream weavers and basket cases who were about to have their annual gathering in never ever land to discuss raising the level of cleaning up the environment in every corner of the kingdom of happiness .
The Luckie duckie made her way along the path waddling and skipping , hopping and bopping and listening to the buttercups and carnations and the sunflowers who were all singing the well-known fairy folk song .
“Let Me Ride The Wind “
The bluebells were jingling and tress all barking softly in a chorus of life that echoed all around the forest . The Luckie duckie took a deep breath and said ,
“Whack a quack me waddle ooh , now that’s what I’m talking about , yeah happy flowers singing, pretty bluebells ringing and tree’s all barking in the breeze . ”
A little forest fairy came out from her hollowed log house and shook her magic wand and that swept up some of the loose leaves up into the air that the breeze carried her away to the riverbank where eager beavers were bagging them up for processing in the mulch works department in green valley .
The toe tapping fairies arrived with a tingle in their feet to dance their way through the hard patches of the forest floor leaving soft mossy patches for the delicate feet of the possums who were spreading new spring blossoms in the air making perfume for the breeze to share for everyone who lived there.
It had been the first time in a long time that a clean-up had been done and the Luckie was drifting in and out of her daydreaming and wandering between the sky road and the forest path . She decided to have another rest in a nest at the foot of a fairy house tree . As she closed her eyes, she saw the moon and the stars shinning down on the ground in a faraway place in the cosmos outside the realms of never ever land .
After a while the Luckie duckie awoke from her daydream and started cleaning up the dead wood around the forest floor . As she worked away, she sang as she quacked and as she continued to sing the sun above shone brighter and that made the wildflowers grow which made everyone in the forest happy . Then as the other creatures started singing there was a happy feeling all around in the air and on the ground . This created an unimaginable experience for the entire environment and for a moment time stood still which was brought a magic that descended all over never ever land .
Life was beautiful in the Kingdom of happiness and the Luckie duckie knew that the work had only just begun . The clean-up work a continued as a zephyr breeze blew through the forest kissing the leaves on the trees and touching the wings of the fairy folk who fluttered around from lily pads to the concrete slabs were the talking statues stood telling their stories of happiness in the forest groves and glades that had existed forever in never ever land ,
The Luckie duckie was easily distracted and often drifted off to dreamland to play with all her friends who lived there but no matter where she went, she always brought her happiness with her . The laughter continued to echo through the sky and was heard in the hearts of everyone .
The Luckie duckie saw a cat who had lost her tongue and couldn’t say a word to anyone so she was miming what she wanted to say to a field mouse who had lost its way in the forest where no man had ever been .
The mouse had a squeaky kind of laugh which made the cat started to laugh and in turn made the cat find her tongue again that was hiding away inside a furball in her throat . There was a frog with a croak jumped out from a log on a creek and started singing to a bat who couldn’t see a thing in the light of the day and a chicken that fluffed her feathers and clucked at Luckie duckie who quacked as a rooster said how do you do .
All the other animals came out to say , what a wonderful day and are we lucky to have so much happiness today .
A horse eat some hay and went , “Neigh “ as they do , for they are always far to busy to say anything more before running away into the hills where they can graze all day on the green grass where some of the lost elephants made their home .
Around the fields near the hills the funny little foxes go running home to watch their little TV show in their dens where nobody goes .
Life in the forest and the hills and all over never ever land had never been as happy so the annual gathering of the dream weavers and basket cases was
assured to be the a success with all of the things to be discussed .,’
The Luckie duckie waddled back home to the riverbank happy at the work that had been done ,
The End
