The Luckiest Zebra

Once a Zebra was grazing happily under the shade of a huge thorn tree. On his back he was adorned with beautiful black and white stripes, which melted him perfectly with the dark and light shades of his surroundings. All was at peace in the African bush, but on his back, a black stripe and white stripe where arguing. ‘I don’t like you because you’re a white stripe, and white stripes always think that they are better than us black lines.’ Said black stripe. ‘Well, I don’t like you because you’re a troublesome black stripe, always out to cause strife. Besides, maybe a white stripe is better than black stripe after all.’ Replied the white stripe. They were still arguing when a mighty lion came strolling by in search of his next meal. The zebra stood deathly still in the shade, hoping not to get spotted by the lion as he walked by. The black stripe and the white stripe were quivering in fear, but stood together, blending in like magic under the shade on the large tree. The wind blew fair, and the lion could not smell or spot the zebra, and slowly walked away into the distance. The beautiful zebra had been saved and the black stripe said to the white stripe; ‘I’m so glad that you are white and I am black.’ ‘So am I.’ replied the white stripe with relief. Sometimes we just cannot get along without a black and white unity.
