Contemporary Poem Titles; Decapitated Bodies

Vague not instructive
Instinctive not intuitive
Languid not emotive
Vapid, meaningless captions
Doric columns without capitals
Ionic pillars without decorative heads
On many modern poems
I've refused to pop the caps
of the loosely-sealed bottles
No glitzy, appealing headlines
to lure the discerning connoisseur
just loosely wrapped cellophane
devoid of color and design
Short, meaningless announcements
but deconstructed bylines
advertising neither the author's
vocation nor pedigree
No guideposts to lead the itinerant
mind to the port of call
One-word protusions
cerebral chords de-linked
from the the spinal chords
two-word by-passes
diverting from poem's arterial valve
Shallow, congealed allusions
the head dissected from the body
