Her Stormy Eyes Drown My Soul

A swirl of clouds mounts your eyes
the stormy portents shudder my heart
sunbeams of hope no longer filter through
the cool winds of rejection blow
I seek shelter in your rearview
as storms roll across the surface
stinging drops sprinkle from your
dilated lens, the regret condenses
in your briny pores, and tears of
salty remorse crest o'er the awnings
incessant drips stream into puddles
mirror images refract, my shadow
lies in a trance languishing in your wake
intermittently scorned by sonic booms,
thunderous waves pulsing from dark
corners, tremors of disdain pound my
nerves, the friction builds, your eyes
flutter, then snap, the shocking bolts
singe my ungrounded bearings
my fibrillating heart flounders
as love's pitter patter ebbs, wanes,
then flatlines, and your gushing
torrents drown my beached soul
