Sitting on the step with the dogs,
drinking cider from coffee mugs,
watching the sun set over the houses
while the kids play on the path.
 
Sometimes we see the bats fly,
as dusk falls on your doorstep,
and the kids are interrupting 
every sentence that we say.
 
Eating dinner - eggy rice with peas,
the only thing my kids will eat,
while sitting on your step
so we can talk and watch the view.
 
It might be cloudy, maybe raining,
on every other doorstep but
strangely sunny now on your step,
sipping cider, sat with you.

It is a comfortable scene. We can't see each other much at the moment. Hopefully it will not be too much longer.
