A Toast To The Fact I'm Not Like Other Writers

My words don't cut through hearts like daggers
My poetry isn't intoxicating
or ethereal
I won't bring tears to your eyes
or shock the world with my bitter truths
The things I say
don't tastes like honey on the tongue
The words don't come out
in rivers of glistening beauty
They come out in choked sobs
that wrack my body
Everything I say is bitter
and dry in my mouth
The black ink from my pens
gets smeared by my own tears
The things I write about
have broken my heart
and I'm drunk on the past
I'm pouring another cup of masochism
and you're here to share it with me

Hi Adbates.
Hi Adbates.
You share some of the reasons most are moved to write - well done for that. It's a good thing to stand aside from the crowd, especially to have our say. For me, there seems to be hidden disappointment behind your words. I liked the passion and emotion toward the end. Glad to have shared. In poetry / writing, there's room for all, and we're all learning.
Keep writing.

We all have our own thing
We all have our own thing going on, thanks for sharing yours - and keep doing it! It's good to know what you want to write, I'm a bit of a butterfly.
