Caged bird I know not

your heart.

Nor do I know its rhythm

 

Though I have seen

your tears, heard your words, and watched your life,

 I am still not sure.

 

Caged bird in leaving

your flock and flying away,

 are you happy?

 

Caged bird, did your flying away restore the peace in your heart?

Although I cannot see you, I wish you nothing but the freedom that your heart desires.

 

Caged bird, are you finally free?

hello - I think that photo you've used might not be copyright free? If so, could you please remove it as we can't afford to be sued. We love images at ABCTales but please make sure they have a creative commons licence. You can find some great things on Flckr and google images.

I had two budgies the one tried to escape all the time, seemed he couldn't think of anything else. Then one icy winter's night as I turned my back giving them food he was gone we couldn't find him he'd flown off and must have been frozen to death. I always felt he was willing to pay the price, those moments of freedom and the seconds of the thrill of flight. He was finally free. A bird is made to fly.
