Cartoons

I would have
rain come down and mist
wrap these glass towers,
turn them to, for a moment,
cartoons.

I would have
snow fall mid-summer,
hide streets and buildings,
let slush turn everything
black and white.

wind and hurricane
should whip this city,
turn cars sideways, let bins and bill-boards
race down streets, over water,
like toys.

but today
the sun shines and we sit
eating sandwiches and crisps
watching reflections dance
and play.
