Rheinland Ride

A blackbird song to dusting rain
immersed in swelling landscapes,
the windmill speckled skyline
echoes matting vineyards,
and drifts in twos and threes
past village hills and farmland's
lucerne blackthorn yellow rape.
Gravel dredged and thunders -
annihilating recreating banks.
Alert and unaware,
a single goose in a gravel pit
floats, sees midges, snails
the mate protected nest
by bloated barge
that heavily treads the Rhine.
In hedgerows absence
unknown signs trace
woodlands up embankments,
streams through valley,
lines of pasture, pine
and glowering fruit behind
to ridge and furrow.
Tractor rest in corners between
harvests and shining solar panels,
power line cuts through and black
tarpaulin sheltered firewood
from this wet winter gone.
This land can seem
more cared for less protected than our own.
Beyond tributaries and plain,
Palentine's dense woodland -
disorder's given space,
the rest made easy as
this land grows from the people
grown from the land.
On a cycle ride between the Nahe to the Rhine rivers

Great writing, here adld.
Great writing, adld. You took me right there with your words. The picture, by the way, is equally beautiful.
