Darkest before the dawn (I.P)

A nightly breeze wrapped itself around my scarf
as my fingers loosely held by your gloves
struggled to snuggle deeper into the large empty tips.
I looked upon your face but recognized it not;
Not the eyes that took note of all my scars;
Not the fingers that gently carressed
the damaged parts, long gotten wounds that remained ajar;
Not the lips that carefully kissed places long hidden from regard.
The stars crowned the sky that night
Though my feet carried me even further from you
My heart leapt to match the distance.
Now the hours miss you when you are gone,
the seconds fail to recount
The minutes in unison that yearn for the comprehension of eternity.
Before you the nothingness consumed
any ounce of happiness that dared to bloom
The only light was that of the moon
that now and again held me in swoon.
Now I kiss you in the sparkling morn
at the edge of the light when its darkest before the dawn.
