Lovers' Feat (What seperates us)

What separates us is the desire to not want to be apart,
to see obstacles as opportunities,
arguments and disagreements as
hills and mountains and rivers.
Ocean deep we choose to dive in,
dig, climb, crawl, reach
across crumpled sheets
in the darkness of blankets till we find our feet.
It is the quest for understanding that moves us,
to want a form of completion that we cannot find in ourselves.
To see you looking at me knowingly,
I'd bear out till the edge and then jump into your arms.
It is what gives touch all its meaning,
seeing the beauty without from within
a mere glimpse.
I rise to a richer blue sky morning and descend into a more glorious night.
So in the midst of what seems like a fight,
in a land where our demons reside
and its hard to rise above and see you instead of a reflection of me,
I lay down my arms.
I'd rather that part of me died than see your beauty diminished.
Return the warmth into that smile, the softness in those hands, the glow of knowing that you are not alone in this confusing world.
It is what separates us from everybody else, the promise to protect each other from the worst parts of ourselves, and no matter what any day brings,to reach over that vast distance within our hearts and under blankets deep,
find our feet.
