Conflicted

From the spears of the Romans
And the Phalanx of Greeks.
The thieves taking Egypt
and the tombed gold they seek.
The Persians ruled years
harassing the weak.
And Rome was destroyed
of a barbarian leak.
The Mongols took Asia,
a quick, easy theft.
They killed half of Europe
Through the means of Black Death.
Soon, we found land,
The natives soon slaughtered,
or used as work hand,
or to keep flowers watered.
The rising sun burnt
It's neighbored opponents.
The league of the powerful,
Had had better moments.
Rome was reborn
As the three powers grew
And the world's interference
Made World War number Two.
By the time it was silenced,
After many debates
The soviets broken,
Leaves the United States.
But as the one power,
Is it our world to hold?
Should your neighbor be saying
How the laundry should fold?
Why are we dabbling
In other's affairs?
Let us run our country
And they can run theirs.
Of course they attack us,
We went there on a whim
They just try to change us,
Because we tried to change them.
