"Poetry in a Bottle"

If I drop you

Will you spatter all over the floor

like the bottle of spaghetti sauce did?

If I wash you out

Will you be squeaky clean

new again?

If I put a tea bag in, fill you with water,

Place you on the porch

Will I be able to drink you?

If I fill you full of sugar

Will you be safe

from ants and other pests?

If I put you in the orange bucket

Set you on the curb on Friday morning

Will you be recycled?

If I put you in a bottle

Will you still speak to me,

like you did when you were free?
