I expressed my deepest concerns in a previous diary about how with two of the equines being stabled closer to Omar Towers than previously that my Servant’s attention would be diverted from myself and Mitsie. Sadly, this prophesy came to fruition last night.
No sooner had Man Servant returned from ‘work’ and Lady Servant had finished her ‘work’, there was a very quick turnaround that would put Ryannair to shame and the Servants were away, presumably with the equines. They did not return to the confines of Omar Towers until nearly midnight. They returned very happy and wanting to express affection for myself and Mitsie but quite frankly we both gave them the cold shoulder over this behaviour.
Felines are said by servants to live in the moment and any sense of rejection we felt was soon overcome when Man Servant and I enjoyed an open chicken sandwich. He is trying to cut down which is why he only used one slice of bread instead of two.
Servants prolonged absence last night gave me the opportunity to have a read of The Times. I still regret it downsizing to tabloid. After the happy headlines of last weekend about the Royal Wedding, which despite my connections I was not invited to, the world of the servants has reverted to its normal chaotic and insane condition.
Man Servant and I have studied international politics. From what we have read together ‘chaos’ is the normal condition of such an environment. Servant philosophers, academics and practitioners of geo-politics from Servant Niccolò Machiavelli, to Servant Kenneth Waltz and Servant Henry Kissinger have recognised this servant condition and worked within its loose framework. It is what is known as ‘realism’. From the days when servants lived in cities in ancient Greece to what they refer to as the Westphalian system they have today of different countries within defined geographical areas.
Felines do not have these problems. By our very nature as solitary beings we are not political enough to organise ourselves into communities let alone into countries. Our time frame does not take us much further than the next meal, when they are served, and our next sleep. That is the felines’ understanding of realism.
I first thought the headline yesterday was ‘Monster Movie Special’ but then I realised it was a banner advertising an article in the Arts section. The real headline yesterday was ‘Trump blames China for wrecking Korea talks’. This may all be staged managed machinations on the part of Servant Trump in an effort to make himself appear to be a messiah and saviour if and when the talks do take place. Or, it may be a genuinely letting other servants know the arrangements have collapsed.
How unlike when Servant Kissinger disappeared for a few days allegedly with a stomach illness in Pakistan but was actually in China in the 1970’s arranging talks to start the process of opening that country up to what servants now refer to as ‘the first world’. If those initial talks had failed no servants beyond a close few would have been any wiser and life would have continued.
On the ‘Letters Page’ is a contribution entitled ‘Four Into One’. It mentions that Servant Orson Welles, a true colossus in more ways than one, was told by his doctor that ‘intimate meals for four were OK but he should at least have the decency to invite three others’. In light of Mitsie’s recent failures to appreciate contentment over capacity I showed her this letter which did not best please her. That was until there was some cold chicken on offer late last night.
Earlier I made the presumption that my Servants were with the equines. I think this has been proved to be correct. The reason being that in The Times is a picture of the front of Annabels’ nightclub in Mayfair which has been festooned with flowers. When the Servants returned last night they did not mention this at all so they must have been with the equines. QED?
Most fortunately for regular readers with an interest in the turf there are no Classic races being run this weekend so you are all saved the embarrassment of placing losing wagers at the turf accountants. However, in a week’s time on Saturday 2nd of June the 2018 Derby is being run at Epsom. As at today there are 16 runners declared b ut this could be reduced to changes in going or injuries in training. Felines unlike equines never ever get injured in training as we just cannot see the point in training. Therefore, unlike Servant Trump, Man Servant and I will be keeping our decisions about what to back in The Derby a closely guarded secret until the morning of the race after we have carried out all of the preparations we can including using Mitsie in our patented ‘litter tray’ method of selection.
