WORST FEARS START TO COME TRUE - BENNEY VISITS A CLINIC - NEW HOME SECRETARY - 1000 GUINEAS SELECTIONS

Well, I have to say that my predictions and concerns expressed a couple of weeks ago have come to fruition.

I am still very pleased that my Servants were able to move their equines closer to home so they can enjoy them more.  However, as I predicted, this has meant that Mitsie and myself appear to have lost our deity status in Omar Towers that was genetically bequeathed to felines in Ancient Egypt. I suspect even the Pharaohs had to clean out the litter trays in those days.  This degradation of our status has been so serious that Man Servant was unable to take dictation on Friday night  for yesterday’s diary and so I have to apologise for not offering my selections for the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket yesterday.

As an example of the degradation of our feline status, especially mine, the Servants left home at 0830 yesterday morning and did not return until after 1600.  During the week as they both have to go to somewhere called ‘Work’, which quite frankly is a concept I still cannot fully grasp, it is not unusual for them to be away from Omar Towers for longer periods but yesterday was a Saturday when they used to be around for nearly all day.

When they did return I managed to hear that they had been to a ‘pole clinic’ with one of the equines named ‘Benney’.  I do not know what a ‘pole clinic’ is but I can only assume that because it was a type of clinic that Benney must be ill.  I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.  I know equines, unlike felines, have regular baths so to help him feel better I have sent him a bottle of Waitrose’s own brand of Sea Moss shower lotion to enjoy.  I know the Servants use the convenience store nearby but their ‘own brand’ products lack that cutting edge of quality which they are prepared to sacrifice for convenience and dare I say ‘a little economy’.

My Servants have been so busy over the last week that neither of them have been able to buy a weekend newspaper of magazine, so my view on the world is rather limited at the moment. 

I do know that during the week a member of the servant species titled as ‘Home Secretary’ resigned and has been replaced.  Man Servant here at Omar Towers I assume is ‘Home Secretary’ as he spends quite a bit of time at the desk writing and sorting out papers.  Lady Servant must also be a ‘Home Secretary as she spends a lot of time at the desk writing and sorting out papers in between my cries for attention and posturing on her keyboard.  I do hope that with the change of our feline deity status neither of my Servants resign from their positions of ‘Home Secretary’.

Last weekend when I mentioned the !000 Guineas there were over twenty runners declared.  That field has now been reduced to 15.  This race for three year old filly equines is run at Newmarket, ‘Headquarters’ for those familiar with racing colloquialisms, at 1535 this afternoon over the distance of one mile on ‘good going’.  First prize for thee winning connections is £310,487 of which the winning servant trainer and servant jockey will receive just over 6% in addition to their regular fees.

With a field of 15 turf accountants will be paying out on each way wagers to third place at either a quarter or a third of the starting prices.  With Man Servant’s help and without having to engage Mitsie’s services in our patented litter tray method have selected the following:

ANNA NERIUM – quoted at 14/1 this morning and therefore suitable for an ‘each way’ wager

SOLIILIQUY – second favourite at 11/2 and therefore suitable for a ‘win’ only wager

My ideal result would be Soliloquy first and Anna Nerium 2^nd or 3^rd.  If that is the outcome I do look forward to receiving slightly more than a new yellow banana which was my reward for 1^st and 3^rd in The Grand National.
