Wolfy

I’m sorry, I am sorry Wolf, I didn’t mean to leave you. I didn't mean to leave you. I will never leave you ever again, I promise.
I will look after you everyday and stroke your ears and feed you milk and butterflies.
I will keep you safe and warm and wet inside my womb and give you nutrients and life.
Then when you are ready I will follow the yellow lights outside and take you into the woods. I will find the thickest cluster of the oldest trees where a woodcutter’s axe has been buried deep in the ground.
I will swing the axe above my head. It is heavy and I am not very strong, but I must try. I will bring it down hard and open up my stomach with a scream and a stream of what's inside me. You will emerge Wolf, bleary eyed and confused. I’ll be tired but I will lick you clean of blood and placenta. You will grow new legs and push your snout into my eyes while I fall into an indigo sleep. When it is over, you can fill my body with dead leaves and forest mulch. You will run away into the dense shadows. I will always care for you.
I love you,
I love you and I am somewhere you can find me.
