QUEST FOR COLOUR

I'm on a quest for colour.
"What on earth are you talking about?" I hear you say.
Well, no, I don't hear you say that, really.
But let's pretend that I do, anyway.
Let's pretend for a moment, that the world's not quite so bad.
Let's imagine there aren't all those people, feeling hurt, rejected,
sad.
Let's pretend some people don't fight over such ridiculous
things.
Let us imagine that all is well, all the bad isn't happening.
Am I turning a blind eye?
Am I ignoring all the others' upset and grief?
Of course I'm not, 'cause I know it exists.
But what I'm doing is having belief.
If ideas all begin in the mind,
Then you'd have to imagine a better place.
You'd have to leave the past behind,
To progress, move forward, to get over it, be kind.
Is it really caring and compassionate,
To say "I feel so sorry for you"?
Isn't it more caring and compassionate,
To say, "I'd like to try to help you"?
Where's the use in looking to the past,
Saying, "That shouldn't have happened" or, "That was wrong"?
You can't change the past. But you can change today.
It's the here and now that really counts, not what has been and
gone.
I want to live my dreams.
I want to add more colour to life;
Make fantasy a reality,
I'd like to make things lighter, bright.
Don't you want to live in a place,
Where people don't try to hurt each other?
Do you think you'd care to join me,
On this so-called quest for colour?
