(THE ALPHABET SERIES) DAISY GETS A DAISYCHAIN

I was hoping this moment would never come. I have such a fear of reading my work out in front of people. They were going to laugh at me, because whenever I get nervous about something, my voice goes all high and squeaky. And this alliteration thing we had to write about was very silly. I couldn't think of anything that would go with my name, except for the flower I was named after.
"Daisy? What are you doing? Charlie sat down five minutes ago."
I looked up. Mrs Zanted was glaring at me for holding everything up. I ran to the front of the classroom, and, with a mumble, began my story:
For a long time, I've suffered from hayfever. That doesn't mean I'm allergic to hay, it means I can't sniff things like dust or flowers without sneezing violently. I have a friend called Del who keeps forgetting I have hayfever, and one day she came round to my house during the summer to play. We hadn't seen each other for weeks and I was really excited about her coming over. I'd brought her a present. I knew how much she loves reading Enid Blyton, and I'd found a Faraway Tree book in a shop for two pounds and got it for Del. I just knew she would've gotten me something as well, because that's what we always do whenever we haven't seen each other for ages, we buy each other presents.
She finally arrived and we both went up to my bedroom. I gave her the Enid Blyton book.
"Oh, Daisy! You shouldn't have! ?Thank you. How did you know I've been looking for this for ages?"
"I didn't. I just found it in a bookshop for two pounds."
I waited, expectantly.
"Oh, Daisy, you're waiting for your present. I'm so sorry, I didn't know what to get you. But I'll get you something when I next come round."
"Okay," I tried not to let the disappointment show in my voice, so I made it sound happy.
It was such a sunny day, that in the end, Del and I got fed up with being inside, that we went out into the garden. We had loads of daisies growing on our lawn, that my dad had planted specially for me. "Daisies for a Daisy," he'd joked, when he planted them.
I made special care to go near them, convincing Del to play in the yard. We started to play catch and she ran onto the lawn. Then she gave a yelp.
"I've got a great idea!" She bent down to the ground.
'Oh no,'I thought to myself. 'Please tell me she won't.'
Del came running over to me, with a bunch of daisies in her hand. She was attaching them to each other, so she ended up holding a daisychain.
"There you go," Del said, cheerily, thrusting the daisychain in my hand.
I smiled weakly at her, as everything went hazy, and I sneezed a load of green glob all over Del's pretty green dress...
