Importunata

We study each other
a whispered kiss apart,
with eyes hard-glazed
like cats: yours an amber
tiger's pounce soft landing
upon fluffed pillows beneath
my lower kids, to tease
the billows left from
unrequited sleep;
while I skittish glance
through laced curtains
of fanning lashes, to dance
butterflies upon your
darkened brow.
How are we, conjoined twins
at the hips, heart and
mundane habits, even
the hypnotic trance in
depth of dreams - to deny
an unspoken pact of
duo dependency, one
fragile house of cards
sharp leant against the other
to hone a hearth, a home
as welded wanderers,
attached aliens
through this hostile land?
Do not unlace your fingers
from mine; untwine our
flamingo necks about the other,
or disentangle from the
tango of our burning dance.
Walk not from me to set
solitary footprints in some
sultry desert sands, as mine
are bound to follow, in vain.
For poor navigator am I
by moonlight, sure to lose
my way when my sun has
sudden sunk from view, and
blinded by desolation, I am
cold plunged into forever
winter's black.
