Where I lay to rest

There’s my hand on hers
Laid gently so that it won’t hurt no more
I stretch her fingers out one by one
Let some of my warmth linger on her as time slows down
And the countdown to infinity begins
I trace every line, peak and curve
One at a time
Every soft, tender, malleable place
I squeeze hard, till it became pale, and let go
Her palm blushes crimson as life flows back right in front of me
Glowing in amber red racing within lucent skin.
Following vibrations of her pulse beat on mine
I venture further down on a lifeline
Feeling every crease, scar and tensed flesh
And amongst all the ebbed numbness and wringed pain
I find her curled up,lost within a deafened silence.
I lay my head to rest by her side.
I absorb every single piece of the darkness.
I remember.
I take it in.
I breathe.
With her.
