Chapter 3 - Spikey’s guidance

The next morning, the dragons’ spirits held high with Spikey as their leader while they completed each tough task. Bill liked to see this progress, so he gathered everyone round in a circle to make an announcement after they had finished.

“I like what I saw today when you listened to each and every instruction given by Spikey. If you keep this up then we might be close to winning that battle to be declared champions of the world forever.”

The dragons smiled at Bill and at each other.

Bill continued, “I want you to fulfil all the other difficult things that I hand out to you. Well done, Spikey and you all. I think you deserve a medal.”

As Bill put the medals of honour on Spikey and the others, the dragons’ smiles became brighter.

This continued for a few months and then one day Bill asked the dragons to do all
the exercises without using Spikey’s help. Bill found it astonishing that the dragons were well capable of doing each task.

Bill applauded. “Well done, everyone. I feel the right time to do some more challenging tasks is now. Dragons, are you up for a third round?”

The dragons looked exhausted. Fuzzball said, “Bill, is it ok if you give us a break and we continue tomorrow because we’re exhausted due to all the hard exercises you’ve given us to practice every day and want to take rest?”

Bill answered, “I can understand but my day to fight in another battle is not very far. Without your help, I can never succeed in my goal. Can you all do this for my sake, please?”

The dragons sympathized with him and agreed.

Chapter 4- Dragons try to please Bill

Bill called the dragons in the same meeting place where they stood as they had before. Bill was explaining to them another different tough task which no dragon was capable of doing. He was asking them to fly over ferocious rhinos who were standing beside Bill. The dragons became scared.

Bill said, “I know that you haven’t done this before. To be a champion in a battle, you have to do new scary tasks. My simple advice would be look up, ignoring the
rhinos, and fly in the sky to reach the end of the race. Go.”

The dragons were flying to the sky, without having a clue that the rhinos would run towards them at full speed with their horns to attack them. As soon as the dragons noticed this, they flew to the sky using their speed as well. Once they found themselves up high, they felt relieved. They were under the impression that Bill would only give them this one mission because he was pleased with the tasks
he had already handed out to them.

They landed on the ground feeling satisfied and thinking that they had reached the finish line. But they were wrong, because Spikey was already standing next to Bill, who explained, “In order to win any task from now on, you have to try Spikey’s method.”

They agreed and followed Spikey’s ways in every activity they did. Bill who had
observed them for each process applauded.

“After seeing all the progress you’ve made throughout the year, I must say I’m
impressed. I think now we’re ready for the battle.”

The dragons stood ready in alphabetical order with Bill in front since he would
lead them to the battle.
