The fox and the jackal
There was a fox and jackal named Simitha and Gopesh living
in Haripatra jungle in Mumbai
and who were best friends ever since childhood which meant they would share
everything be it toys, board games etc. Their life was full of fun and banter
and they continued to be like that till they became older. They once went for a
stroll in the jungle like a morning walk to have a friendly chat so Simitha the
fox started “dost, the weather is good today of all days so we’re lucky to
finally get the chance to go for a morning stroll, don’t you agree Gopesh?” To
which Gopesh smiled “I know yaar, tell me about it. The weather usually is rainy
but look what happened as a result of that, the flowers and leaves have grown”
then the two animals rushed to smell the flowers and Simitha smiled at Gopesh
“the aroma of the flowers are lovely Gopesh” and Gopesh also tried smelling it
“you’re right Simitha.” They continued walking and greeted all the other
animals that went past them and went back to their den and needed sleep so
Simitha yawned “dost, I am tired so I need to sleep” and Gopesh replied “same
here Simitha” and they both fell asleep.
They woke up later during the day and felt refreshed to
their surprise and Gopesh said “wow, I can’t believe how refreshed we feel. The
sleeping has done the trick” then Simitha replied “yes, you’re right” then
Gopesh took their old chess game to play one more time. Gopesh asked “Simitha,
don’t you remember these games we played as children once?” Simitha lit up a
smile looking “yes Gopesh, how can one forget?” Then they started playing and whilst
playing , Gopesh realised that Simitha had deliberately moved the stone at a
wrong angle to confuse Gopesh chuckling “ha ha very funny Simitha , I know
you’ve played this move deliberately to annoy me . Watch what I do now” then he
purposely moved her stone at a wrong angle to confuse her too “hey, not fair
Gopesh, you tricked me. Watch me” then she took his stone and flicked it to her
hole which made Gopesh more mad “watch what I do now” then Simitha had enough
“Gopesh enough, we’ve had our little childish fight, let’s play like mature
grown ups from now on” Gopesh realised his immaturity “you’re right Simitha.
Let’s leave childhood at it’s place” and went back to playing the game and they
had fun playing the rest of the game and after they had finished , Gopesh was
about to put the chess game back when he saw their favourite childhood toy Bibo
the hippo and stroked it gently which made Simitha curious “what is it that
you’re stroking Gopesh? Care to show me?” Gopesh showed her Bibo the hippo
smiling which made Simitha excited and wanted to hold it stretching her hands
out “Oh my gosh! It’s our favourite childhood toy , Bibo the hippo, can I
stroke it too please” Then Gopesh’s smile faded away “no way Jose Simitha! I
found him first so only I can keep him” Simitha became hurt “this isn’t fair
Gopesh! What childishness is this? As best friends , it’s nice to share things
with each other” Gopesh said “I don’t want to be your dost anymore, Bibo is,
get lost Simitha” which shocked Simitha “Gopesh, I can’t believe you would
stoop this low over a silly toy, have it your own way then, goodbye” and she
stormed off to find a faraway den of her
own. After months of not speaking to
each other, Gopesh realised his stupidity and tried looking everywhere for
Simitha to apologise to her and found her in another den so he came with Bibo
the hippo apologising by holding his ears and Simitha turned her frown into a
smile forgiving him then they shared Bibo the hippo as they went back to their
old den chatting.
