Maybe

Sitting on the public grass
Talking happily
Although my words are sparse
Everyone knows I can't speak properly
Maybe
That's why I'm the last asked to leave
The last asked for by name
Maybe
It will always be that way
Lying on the public grass
Trying on a new love song
But even after another glass
This one's fit is also wrong
Maybe
All these people rushing past
Too fast to grieve
They're past that point of the game
Maybe
They'll never find something new to say
Crying on the public grass
I guess I'm not worth getting behind
Not a pioneer,
More an outcast.
And no-one will ever change their mind
Maybe
Their belief in fate
Is not as scarce as the thief.
We're scarce in these dreamy days
But maybe
Honour doesn't pay.
