Go and find your someone

They say
you don't know what you have
till it's gone,
and now more than ever
I see just how true that is.
I miss the familiarity
knowing exactly what
was going on in your life,
but now I'm on the outside
looking in.
I guess that's how it should be,
after all, even though
the words came from your lips
and not mine,
it was my actions that drew them.
You stayed strong
as I grew weak,
it was me who was the infection,
that ran through
our veins,
the weak link in our chains.
I stopped treating you right,
showing you that I cared.
Well I hope you find
someone better than me,
someone who will
make that effort I didn't,
someone who will
listen the way I couldn't,
someone who will
care for you the way I wouldn't,
and love you the way I forgot to
but mostly, I hope
you never stop trying
to find that someone.
