I am lucky

I have never been rich,
but have never been poor.
I've been unwell
but never seriously ill.
I am a healthy
intelligent
young adult,
so I may not get everything I want,
but I have a lot of good memories.
There are people in this world
who have seen loved ones die,
who are too weak to move
from hospital beds,
who have pasts
that not even the most cynical
person would wish on another,
people that we often over look,
don't stop to think
about what they're going through.
This leads us to wrongly
feel jaded by the world,
feel like life has just got it in for us,
simply because things get a little bit tough.
I may have never won the lottery
but compared to others,
I am lucky
