WHERE DOES IT BEGIN?

I ask myself if I am giving too much
To give to those who do not deserve such
Am I draining the resources for those who truly need?
While the blood sucking hangers on make me bleed?
There will always be the grabbers and the takers
The I deserve it more. The fakers
Yet if I stop being charitable
Will this change be meritable?
Will my life become more overflowing with wealth?
Due to my new found stealth
Or will the egg be truly on my face
When true humanitarians see my fall from grace?
No! Charity begins at home I say
So look at the person next to you today
And see if they need your help
Before the grabbers start to yelp
A cup of coffee is a lifesaver to one
Or a friendly word to one who is alone
Your home is not just the place you reside
But your country in which you take great pride
Help those abroad when needed okay
But remember the words I impart your way
If our own suffer due to the lack of a penny
Then more will follow and become far to many
