To Fall

Catapulting through this dream
with arms extended and eyes void
Heart a lonely wanderer
grasping the extremes and leaving behind
The waste
Falling into this jet stream
the helpless images of –
Crimson skies
Black suede jackets
Iridescent leather pumps
Smeared Bubblegum lipstick
Off-white bandages
Empty hospital beds
Newly fallen leaves
Vacant sidewalks
Eggshell rocking chairs
Emerald green eyes –
flutter carefully past
I’m transfixed under this hazelnut sky
as clouds dance parallel to hope
Plummeting further and further still
I see these hawks,
these birds of prey
they careen… my face a target
I must rejoice in the fact I’m noticed
Adored
A fascination
I drop past, my body a weight
A sinking rock
Rushing past in a wave
Objects fall past me, too quickly to see
There aren’t enough spaces of freedom
There aren’t enough moments of tranquility
In this world
In this life
In this dream
The rains…
the rains they come
From behind those seemingly
happy clouds
The droplets must be embraced
Accepted for what they are
Just as all of these objects who fall
Plunging into these dreams
