Stroller Derby

Peeking from these rabbit holes we find
The sun shining oh so divine
We scurry, feet pedaling so fast
To bask in the daylight that may not last
The strollers pull up, the children get out
Their love of spring exclaimed in a shout
Frisbees and footballs hurl through the air
(Is that a kite or a plastic bag over there?)
We relax on beaten clumps of grass
Still trying to recuperate from winter’s blast
The treetops are barren but life thrives below
Squirrels and chipmunks moving to and fro
Ducks chatter from nearby ponds
Excitedly playing in the lake they’re so fond
The ice is still melting but they don’t care
This small circle of water they will happily share
Miniature doggies frolic in the sun
Ignoring their owners, having so much fun
In these few moments, we’re experiencing Spring
Anxious of the beauty that the future will bring
