RAINING CATS AND DOGS

This morning when I woke up
it was raining cats and dogs
and all those puppies and those kittens
were making puddles in the yard.
They were swinging off the tree boughs
and jumping off the eaves,
and dancing on the sidewalk
just as happy as you please.
I could hear the pitter-patter
of their tiny little feet
as they ran across the roof top;
That’s what woke me from my sleep.
They were tapping on my window.
They were tapping on my door;
but if I let them in my house
they’d puddle on my floor.
They’d run beneath the table.
They’d run under the chair,
leaving wet and muddy footprints
in the house everywhere.
This morning when I woke up
it was raining cats and dogs
and all those puppies and those kittens
were making puddles in the yard.
They were hopping on my doorstep
and running down the walk
and when they got down to the street
they didn’t even stop.
They just splashed their way along the street
and made more puddles there.
When it’s raining cats and dogs
they leave puddles everywhere.
