Father to her daughter
I know she loves me, somewhere it is inevitable,
for as lost as I am, I am known to her,
the voice she heard in the darkness,
the little jokes and guffaws,
the touch that felt her in there,
the warmth from my heart.
Today the resonance in her mind,
the ears may not know,
the heart does bounce and leap,
at some memories far far ago.
He was her father, and will ever be so,
he was her hero, and will ever want to be so,
the one man, she hoped would shoulder her head,
her tears, will make it so.
She knows not today, he weeps too,
She knows not today, the curses he heaps so,
on all but himself, does he blame it,
it has he, who failed so.
Yet the tender heart will forgive one day,
one day, she will be held,
more than her, her father will say,
'thank you for loving me so!'
