Forever Meeting
Come, come let us meet
For parting would be such a sorrow.
We could chatter all night
About what we can say tomorrow.
Come, come let us meet
And idle away the odd hour.
We know what we arrange
Will tomorrow all change,
By things far beyond our power.
Come, come let us meet
At the end of a lingering day.
We can talk all night,
Past the last lingering light
Till at last we have nothing to say.
Come, come let us meet
For it's far, far better than home.
Where loved ones quietly ponder
Just why of chat we are fonder
And why we endlessly drone.
Come, come let us meet
And try to have the last word.
For honour forbids
That we think of the kids.
Instead in verbal joust,
Each other to oust
And make our own egos complete.
