He did not consider onions to be a problem.
He let the sting slip in to his cuts
knifed triangles, faces, a friend
out of the onion.
He ignored his mobile
which rested half on the counter
half in air
When the lights went on across the street
he snapped up,
and stooping low
cuffed the surface clean.
He found them a week later, stuck to the skirting boards.
He didn't wash his hands when he
spread out the washing.
He fingered the hems,
flavouring each
one with not minding.
