08.23 am The sun continues to shine, its now shining in the window
and it makes it difficult to see without squinting.
Yesterday (12) I woke up when I did, I wrote my journal and sent it to
Erin, which I like to do. I messaged her. And about 10am I tried
ringing her. But I found out later she was busy. I had a bath, and
played the guitar. I play the guitar each morning, and it's good to
sing and play as it's fun. I think that's why we do things because they
are fun.
Fed the cats who again went straight in and ate their breakfast. I
don't have breakfast as such, unless you count ciggies and coffee as
breakfast. I listened to Muse yesterday morning, this morning I am
listening to Nimrod which I haven't heard for a while.
Later on I fed my Mum and Dad's cat then I posted the book to Erin, G's
CD and my huge Orbit mailing which I finished yesterday. Then I got the
bus to Southend, and my wife rang me and said she was in Leigh, I told
her I had to go to Southend as I had some stuff to sort out.
In Southend I went in to see Derek and collected a CD and mentioned
that I had posted the CD to G, so I hope he gets the CD today (13).
Then I trundled round to Honky Tonk, which is always a bad thing, as it
usually involves spending money.
They had a sale.
I went in and tried the Gretsch Junior which was up for half the ?240
tag it was before, and I played it for an hour before getting it and
two books - a song book for the album Dookie and a book on the Rhythm
Guitar. My Visa card was rejected. I used Switch instead. The Gretsch
was the last one in the shop and looked great.
Carrying the guitar and the books and trying to smoke at the same time,
I made my way back to the Town main plaza, by the Odeon and sat down. I
rang Erin and she was there and I said that I was worried about the
Visa card (the bank rang me later to say that it was the shop's machine
that was at fault) and then we talked about writing. She sent me a
story which I read and commented on this morning. Her stuff is really
good. I told her about an idea I had based on the Front Page of the
abctales site, and outlined the idea and how the story would work. We
talked more about stories and characters, and stuff. Then she had to
get the bus.
Went in Mama Amalfis which is like an Italian coffee bar and pizza
place, and its nice in there. I plunked myself down on a table where
two girls were talking about quitting jobs. I did ask first, and they
said ok, as long as I didnt mind girlie chat. I think I contributed two
words to their conversation, one of which was 'almonds'. I had a latte,
then three other people came in, and the girl with the two blokes saw
the books and asked where the music shop was, turns out one of the
blokes was looking for a new guitar, so I unboxed the Gretsch and he
had a twang on it. He lives in Reading so I quizzed him about the
Festival and he kindly gave me a few tips, one of which was eating a
lot of white bread before I went so I dont have to worry about running
out of bog paper. The other bloke said that bog paper is negotiable
currency at Reading. He suggested I stick to the chinese food. I said I
was taking a lot of bananas. The bloke who looked at the Gretsch told
me that if he didnt live in Reading he would nt mind jamming. I think
if I was in a band it would help me a lot to play better.
I left and got the bus home. When I got home I played the Gretsch for
an hour or so, well, until my wife said it was getting loud so I
stopped.
I wrote my story based on the idea I had had on the bus going into town
which i had told Erin about. I posted it, and will have to see what
happens. One part made me upset. Or rather I reacted when I wrote it,
and I don't know why.
Listened to a collection of Beat songs when I wrote the story, and of
course some songs were about lost love, and others weren't, but it
helped.
I had tea - fish soup - and watched a bit of tv. Then I went back
online and wrote another song of sorts. Then Erin came on line and I
was watching the minutes because my wife had said I was curfewed at 11.
Erin and I talked about writing and lots of things, and we listened to
Art of Drowning again, and it was good. I found an online story
generator and used it to create an outline, then we chatted about
character names and I worked out some names. At 10.58 I started saying
good bye, but then I found out the film my wife was watching hadn't
finished. I sent Erin my story. She had to go at 11.15 and I had a
brief chat with another friend before I logged off as well.
The film was still going, and I said if I had known this, and my wife
said it was just a reprieve. I am now considering getting drinking up
time, I mean chatting up time added to my curfew. Its a little annoying
as I am holiday now. Still it makes what time I have with Erin more
precious.
Reading is beginning to get sorted. It seems we are all going up in a
seven seater taxi, Thursday morning, after the people in my charge
collect their GCSE results. There are seven of us, and I have my own
tent now. My nephew should also be there with his band. Their site has
been revamped and the single comes out in September.
I like the name Erin, it means "peace".
