Insomnia

I need extra time
Give it to me golden, let me find it
In a field, just as I am swinging a
Scythe, let it fall on my shoes and
Melt the old black polish with a
Crown on the toe tip
Cut a gap from the coffee house
So I can be lapping latte from a cup that
Burns my fingers while I tap tap tap
And make an essay on a book I never read
Simultaneously
Let me read a lengthy argument
That makes me feel bad
While I lie on the floor in my best friend's
Room, laughing like a donkey crys
And not feel the two merge
For God's sake, give me some medicine,
Give me a broken leg so I can
Read the Bible cover to cover,
Write to my Great Aunt Kathleen.
Deliver me insomnia,
So I can get my life back on track,
And finally write another story
At midnight, while I sip whisky
From my toothbrush holder
