We rose at 6 am and went to Mass at 6.45 am at the Franciscan Church.
After breakfast we were taken
by coach to the station. We were seen off by all the Italian maids as
we got into our coach. They all
said good-bye and waved to us. One of then shook hands with us all
separately. Thus we said good-bye
to the Eternal City.
From about 9.30 am until 4.45 pm we were travelling, bound for Rapallo.
At 4.45 pm we arrived and
after settling in our hotels, went for a walk round the bay, bought
some postcards and visited a nearby
church.
orange trees lined the road by the sea in this pretty Riviera town.
Margaret and I ascended a hill at one
side of the town and had a glorious view of it nestling between the
mountains which surround the bay.
For dinner at 7.30 pm we went to the Savoia, a very high-class place
and had delicious food. Margaret
and I then returned to the Grande et Moderne Hotel where we were
accommodated for the night.
We both received letters from Mrs. Butcher.
