07.05 am. I got up around 6.20 this morning, but why? It's a
Saturday! Well I like to make an early start. I am listening to the
'Sticks and Stones' album by New Found Glory. The garden is now really
huge, and I can just picture the metal roadway on it with tents either
side now.
Yesterday (30) I got up on time, I suppose I had to given that I
overslept the previous day. I fed Longhair and Tabby and then wrote up
my online journal.
I got the train to London, and listened to the Less Than Jake album I
had bought in Reading, I have listened to the other two albums I had
bought now. During the morning I did the tapes, the lights had blown in
our department and we had to get an electrician in to fix them. My boss
spent all day trying to get the tape drive to work with the new
servers, he wasn't happy, seems the Raid Controller doesn work with the
new tape drive, so he used one of the onboard NICs and one of the PCI
NICs to leave one PCI slot free for the tape drive expansion card.
Seems the manufacturer knows less about the server than he does
now.
I spent most of the morning working on the mainframe app that we have,
and not having much success. At lunchtime I rang Erin to see if we were
still friends, seems that another misunderstanding had occurred, and
while we know where we stand of course, nothing else has changed. I
expect she will be very busy shortly.
At lunchtime I bought my panini and latte, and asked about the new girl
working in Starbucks who is Polish and called Joanna, apparently. The
manager asked me "So, do you like her?" twice. I smiled. I cant
remember what I said in reply. I also bought two Clash CDs in HMV along
with an Oasis live album which I later took back as I realised I didnt
listen to Oasis that much, and got In Utero by Nirvana which I had
never heard before.
I listened to Nirvana on the train, and some songs are very loud and
shouty. I tried to imagine if I would have bailed out if I had been
seeing this band live and decided that I wouldn't have although I would
not make them my first choice to see.
I had a bath later on then played the guitar for a bit. I went online
and checked emails, and then went in web chat which was a good
laugh.
I miss the sort of chats I used to have with Erin, but there you go,
everything changes. Time moves on and for a while there is something,
then it is gone, or changed and it is not the same thing anymore. Its
like we have been talking at the busstop and now her bus has arrived
and she has got aboard and now I have to go home, or maybe I will wait
for the next bus.
I think too often we place too much reliance on one person or one thing
and when its gone, we have nothing to take its place. At least we think
we have.
