Moon Shadows

As moon shadows
slice across the room
pushing aside
her lonely gloom;
she stands to watch
them slide away
as the earth rotates to one more day.
The sun arrives
to herald the dawn
casting more shadows
across the lawn.
Growing shorter
towards the noon
Like her, the shadows await the moon.
The sun’s harsh glare
reflects her age
like cruel mirrors
she banned from the stage.
At night time she comes
into her own
dancing with moon shadows all alone.
And for a space
she is young again
her nightly dreams
a fantasy in vain;
the sun will rise,
shatter the illusion
fool she is, beguiled by delusion.
