Nights Out With Remus by Neil McCall
I should have realised
when my cat made herself scarce
and the dray horses stamped with fear as you loped past;
there were clues
in the clawmarks on the doors
and the way
we both ringed the monthly calendar.
But I was mutton dressed as lamb
and liked the way
you disrobed me in red
before taking me from behind
with howls of triumph.
It wasn't until I found granny,
bound and gagged in her own cupboard
that I gave you the chop.
