We are in Oxfam -
The book one -
And she is stealing minutes
Away from the tagine
Which should be softening
So that my friends
Can add to the list of things
They know about me:
Great cook.
I have known her
Too long
And it fixes me at 15 -
I'm all sullen legs
Tearing at words
From the shop radio
Something about this is how it goes,
You love until you don't.
Dum-dum-dum-di-dum.
Outside, yellow-eyed
I tell her
Never to question
The way I cut.
