It really doesn’t matter how long you’ve toiled
You're just a bloody number
Your sweat, your fire and passioned zeal matters not
You’re just a bloody number
Yesterday’s flavour, all your wasted labour
You’re just a bloody number
From a distant darkened temple creeps the word
You’re just a bloody number
It’s for the common good, or so they say
You’re just a bloody number
The self-sacrifice, the loyalty is returned to sender
You’re just a bloody number
Self esteem is cast upon a pyre
It seems I was just a BLOODY NUMBER
To those who care not where we go
So long as we fade away without a fuss

Really enjoyed this, forest. Also enjoyed your other poem, Midnight Love, but couldn't comment on it so I'm doing it here! Thanks for the read(s) :)
