Solstice Man
Deep within the battle-bunker dwells a man of peace
His gentle, kindly manner hides an inner steel
His strength is deep; his fuse is long to blow
His patient dealings oft misunderstood
Raging youths besiege his placid calm
They see only self, he sees them all
And caring for each and everyone
When he sees one stumble does he walk away?
No, he takes their place and helps to share their pain.
Others rebel and puff with righteous rage
David with his sanguine smile simply calms the wave
Many fail to realise just how many arrows meant for them
He took and buried without a word
His head above the trench he faced the bullets with their names
He the straight man, half a duo quite superb
The other making all the mirth to steal the show.
He waits backstage to speak his line.
Listen! His words are worth the time.
He doesn't were his knickers on the outside
And never takes to flight
But when it comes to battle
This man of steel will fight your fight.
