The Sunshine Superman

The power of sunshine, the power of the sun, seems to be an
obviously enlightening one.
It burns away dross and its light helps to reveal unhealthy or misguided impulses that thrive in the darkness.
The Superman needs a sharp, strong, yet supple blade to cut through confusion.
While the concentrated power of the sun can help forge a better alloy, a new and stronger blade, to cut through the dark opposition : the Superman is not invulnerable to the searing pain of the slow transformation.
He must also use the power of the sun to light his way, and capture some small part of its illumination to aid him when the sun is out of sight.
His quest leads through dark caves, in the depths of the earth, where many are lost - but ultimately the Superman must emerge, to climb the mountain.
As he climbs the pain of his many wounds becomes greater, yet
more bearable, as he leaves behind the cloying and the weak and
approaches his apparent destination. But if, at last, he reaches the summit he must discard much that he holds dear and learn to fly.
Not all have wings and some remain trapped on top of the mountain as hermits or, descend to become outcast unable to continue or to go back.
But if he has wings he must leap off the mountain top, use his pain as a spur to combat the growing strains of gravity and soar. Yet if he forces himself ever higher without remaining mindful of his wings - then at last his greatest supporters must finally let him down : for the fanatic flying too far too fast, driving his beating wings ever higher without regard, becomes at last a tyrant unto himself.
If in his zeal to escape his earthly bounds he loses sight of his
destination in the exhilaration of the dizzy heights - and like Icarus he flies too close to the sun - then when finally his wings fail he cannot expect to survive the fall.
The Superman must learn to balance his flight, soaring and gliding, using the intuition devoloped in his heart to the guide him through the thermals, Sensing the changing pressure and adjusting on the fly until at last he is an Eagle soaring in the Golden sunlight.
