Surge-On

Back where I once belonged.
Now the grass is shorter,
the park smaller, the sky further.
I'm like the wild rabbits on the hill, who run free with their friends.
They try to cage me.
The present wave of their life blocking out the retreating waves that went before it.
I wander through my ages, watching me,
Watching me wonder at what would come.
I am there now in the serenity of that future,
A growing, misplaced puzzle-piece.
They don't understand.
They still surf the sinking wave before.
I surge on.
